Thinking Out Loud…

Hello Tiny Neighbours! I wanted to draw attention to the following italicized statement I read in a recent issue of our beloved Springwater News.  “In the 60’s the KGB did some fascinating psychological experiments.  They learned that if you bombard human subjects with fear messages nonstop, in two months or less most of the subjects are completely brainwashed to believe the false message.  To the point that no amount of clear information they are shown, to the contrary, can change their mind.”  Disturbing statement! I have read about this sort of thing in other historic literature, but it really troubled me this time around. I began to wonder if a similar experiment was happening right now, conducted by those in charge on the whole of humanity during this Covid-19 pandemic?

Lately, I have been fascinated by the writings of David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.  Shortly after reading the above statement I read in Dr. Hawkin’s book Power Vs Force, The Hidden Determinants of Human Behaviour where he states, “The intellect grossly lacks the ability to recognize falsehood, but also grossly lacks the necessary power to defend itself.  Man’s boasted capacity of reason lacks the critical faculty of discernment.”  After reading this I got to thinking…are we, (including our leaders) behaving like puppets or sheepal?

And so, using my limited intellect, I dared myself to think some more! I began to question if some of us have truly have been dumbed down?  Have we somehow been conditioned to believe something that isn’t entirely true? Or, do we just allow limited reasoning and lazy intellect,  (conditioned intelligence…yes sir, no sir, three bags full!) to solely guide us through this world crisis?  Because of the bombardment of diverse messages coming at us from the varied sources at our disposal, (some of which are being pulled out from under us for fear some truth might leak out), have we intentionally been rendered incapable to consciously discern truth for ourselves?  Is it possible that human consciousness is being slowly hacked and that our intellect is severely being programmed?  If this could be happening, then how do we gain the power to consciously hear and know truth for ourselves? These questions, and many, many more assaulted my brain, perhaps a clue to my own intellectual malfunction, or maybe my personal awakening.

And then Hawkins so brilliantly clarified “truth” for me when he further explained “the human intellect, when it cannot define the experience of consciousness (our thoughts, feelings and discernment) will label such experience as spiritual.”  So what does spirituality have do with truth you might ask?  Well, I took this to mean that the human intellect on its own needs something tangible to believe in (whether true or not) as this assists the ego.  Consciousness (or spirituality), which is not tangible does not have this same need because being the divine beings that we are, truth is already in each of us, (but as you know truth can be manipulated).  Conscious (awakened) human beings find truth in their gut feelings.  “Intellectual humanity” trusts facts over feelings.  But be careful what your intellect thinks because Hawkins elaborates further saying that divine consciousness (intuition/discernment/faith in our inner wisdom) actually trumps intellect when it comes to knowing truth.  Consciousness, and those who are awakened to it already know what is true.  This is why many people on the planet have been and continue to stand up and defend truth for all of humanity.  Wheh!   So now that I feel awakened to the fact that I currently could either be “dumbed down” to truth, or “intellectually brainwashed by my ego” to truth, what will I do?  I don’t know?  Pass the aspirin please!  I only hope that I will become a part of the solution in this coming year and not the problem. In closing, I take solace in Dr. Hawkins statement pertaining to our current times,  “Humanity is no longer resigned to passively paying the price of ignorance.” Hmm…is he saying that the human race will suddenly wake up?  Our spiritual folk tell us that the truth shall set us free.  If so, maybe we should all consciously listen to them.  And that’s the truth!

Trudeau can learn from President Biden about climate leadership

Dear editor,

Watching the Canadian media, particularly the CBC, cover Joe Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline has been deeply disappointing

First, few reporters clearly state that Biden made this decision because the experts in his administration determined the project was out of step with the Paris Climate Agreement’s goal of limiting global temperature rise to a safe level. Instead, the decision has been framed as political. However, by following up the Keystone rejection by suspending oil and gas leasing on federal lands and promising sweeping climate action Biden has demonstrated that this is more than just a political gesture.

Second, the media in Canada continue to frame Keystone XL as a pipeline with broad public support. There is no current evidence for that. Nor is there evidence that Keystone is in Canada’s national interest. In fact, a recent report from the Canada Energy Regulator showed that the Keystone XL and Trans Mountain pipelines don’t fit within Canada’s climate promises and don’t make economic sense.

Last, almost no attention has been paid to Trudeau or Jason Kenney’s failure to deliver real support for workers. In 2019 Trudeau promised a Just Transition Act to support workers, but now, nearly two years later, the bill hasn’t gone anywhere. Kenney and Trudeau are spending billions of public dollars on pipelines and next to nothing on a transition. The Canadian media should hold them to account.

Sincerely,   Carrie James

Climate Change Promises

Dear Springwater News,

The federal government has started to make good on the promise it made to Canadians during the last election to legislate for net-zero emissions by 2050. Bill C-12, introduced late last year, is now making its way through the House of Commons.

And though this legislation is an important step forward in the battle against climate change, Bill C-12 needs to be strengthened.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned that we have less than a decade to prevent climate disaster. This means the federal government must pass the strongest possible version of this law to enable urgent, bold climate action now.

Canadians expect a climate law that will deliver immediate action and secure a safer, healthier future for all Canadians.
Let’s do OUR part to let the community and our MP’s that this is critical.

Sincerely   Ann Kealey

Climate change

The article on The Climate Change Belief System is a cause for concern in several ways.

Firstly, it would have been helpful to understand the credentials of the writer as well as his background. This writer has no credentials to speak of so you may take my comments as simply my comments.

I found that the section on bloodletting was irrelevant as it has nothing to do with climate change but rather with human change. Rather than dismissing outright the theory of climate change, Mr Graves might have defined it as human induced phenomena.

With this in mind, we might examine his first example – CO2.

While it might not be a pollutant per se, it sure can cause havoc to the ice fields which are currently melting at excessive rates owing to non-natural use of CO2 in planes, rockets and ships.

As the author notes, in order for vegetables to grow efficiently, the amount of CO2 use must be trebled. The motivation is profit, not too different from the money motivation of the other examples provided by Mr Graves. Simply put, weather changes are often ‘natural’ although even these have been exacerbated by man, mainly for financial purposes. That is where the real bloodletting takes place.

According to the National Research Council in 2010, there is a strong, credible body of evidence, based on multiple lines of research, documenting that the climate is changing and that these changes are in large part caused by human activities.

There are countless climatic events such as heat waves which have caused,  among other things, an increase in cattle deaths in California (Los Angeles Times July 8, 2017); tropical cyclones (May 2018 – Mekunu)  which caused heavy rainfall that created desert lakes which subsequently led to the perfect environment for desert locusts to hatch from eggs, develop and breed, leading to a wide spread invasion of crop destruction. Natural? Nature, according to a long and distinguished tradition, is a system of mechanical processes governed by natural laws. How then does it change? Mainly by man interfering with the process for his own purposes. It is easy to see where and how the environment is being changed for personal, political and profit purposes.

A distinguished philosopher, Abraham Ibn Ezra (Spain; 1089/1167) stated that ‘It is shortsighted to destroy the environment in that it will ultimately be to the detriment of people who are reliant on that environment for their lives’.

Clearly, there is cause for concern in dismissing the idea of the fact that climate change does not exist.
