Elmvale Fall Fair – Dated – 14 April 2021

After careful consideration, the Directors of the Flos Agricultural Society regretfully announce the cancellation of the Elmvale Fall Fair, scheduled for Oct 8 & 9, 2021.  Using all current information, the Directors feel that it would be impossible to safely host our traditional in-person event. This unanimous decision was made with the health & safety of our Volunteers, Vendors, Exhibitors, Visitors and the Community at large as our primary concern. We gratefully acknowledge all of the volunteers, businesses, sponsors, and in-kind donors who have supported our Fair in the past. Without you, our annual Thanksgiving week-end Fair would not have been possible. Your support, going forward, will be just as important. Watch for some drive-thru community events that we are planning to host over the next few months, in support of our local businesses. We hope you & your loved ones remain safe and well.

Respectfully,  Flos Agricultural Society Board of Directors

Virtual Hike for Hospice 2021

April 26, 2021 – Walk a little … Jog a lot, bike, dance or skip rope for this year’s Virtual Hike for Hospice.

Beginning Sunday, May 2, and throughout the month of May, join hundreds of others in our community to remember loved ones and help raise funds for Hospice Simcoe.

Despite the challenges of Covid-19, our 2020 virtual event raised over $80,000. “We are so grateful to this community and our ‘hikers’ who continue to support us through this meaningful event. We could not provide the programs and services we do without your generosity.” Kelly Hubbard, Executive Director, Hospice Simcoe

Hospice Simcoe facility dog Daisy plants Hummingbird seeds in honour of the residents at Hospice Simcoe.

The Hike for Hospice has become an annual tradition for many families and friends to honour the memories of their loved ones. We invite you to create a team, gather pledges, and walk to raise funds to support Hospice Simcoe’s services in your community.

This year, to honour your loved one, you can plant a hummingbird seed pack which will bloom into beautiful wildflowers. Plant this to kick off your own Hike day or take it to a special place that is meaningful to you. Seed packs and pledge forms are available in the vestibule at the Hospice Simcoe Residence (336 Penetanguishene Road, Barrie).

“Supporting Hospice Simcoe has always been important to us as a business and as a family. In 2015, my mom, who was also my business partner and Tara’s mother in-law, entered hospice care at Hospice Simcoe. Our experience was the absolute best of a bad situation. The staff provided my mom and family with the utmost care and comfort. We all felt like family from the moment we stepped in, and although we weren’t there for long, we could see what a tremendous impact this place makes every single day.
Hospice Simcoe lifts the burden of care taking and allows patients to die with dignity and peace. Their staff also greatly assist family members and friends to relax and focus on what is important; spending time with a loved one in their final days. It is truly tough to describe what a special place this is, but we feel forever grateful to their staff for what they have done for us and our family.  This is why we will continue to Hike for Hospice and encourage our friends and family to donate whenever they can to support this incredible and valuable resource in our community!” Kenzie

Thanks to our generous sponsors, all expenses for this event have been covered.  Therefore, 100% of the funds raised by participants will go directly to Hospice Simcoe’s programs and services.  Hospice Simcoe continues to provide all our programs and services at no cost.  Our operating expenses have not decreased.  If you are able to give, we need your support.

Our thanks to our 2021 Hike Sponsors:

Purehealth Pharmacy, Kiwanis Club of Barrie, Barrie Press, Abram’s Service Centre, Allandale Veterinary Hospital, Auto Trim Design, Dalston General Store, Deluxe Taxi, Jeff White Group, Jeff’s Junk, MediGas, Parker Coulter Realty Brokerage, Plumbtech, Mason Miller, Mortgage Sense, The Chilton Team, The Peggy Hill Team, snapd Barrie, Rock95 and KOOLFM.
