ELMVALE & DISTRICT FOOD BANK

After eighteen months the Volunteers of the Elmvale & District Food Bank were finally able to have an in-person meeting at the new building. It certainly was nice to be able to see everyone and catch up.  The volunteers at the Elmvale & District Food Bank are busy thinking ahead to Christmas and the preparation of Christmas Hampers.

The past few weeks have seen many individuals or events making donations to the Elmvale & District Food Bank.   Our Lady of Lourdes held a Halloween Dance and received donations to the Food Bank.   The second “Witches on the Notty” was held in late October   Organizers of this event were thrilled with the turnout and the donations received.  The pictures which we received certainly show everyone having a great time.

We also received donations from the Halloween Haunt held in Hillsdale and some individuals who collected at Halloween.   All of the donations are greatly appreciated.

This past weekend Elmvale Foodland hosted the “stuff the Lamborghini”.   Who doesn’t like to admire some special vehicles?   The event was a great success and the volunteers will be busy for a few days putting all donations away.

Applications for the Christmas Hampers are now being taken.  Please attend at the Food Bank during regular hours (Wednesday 4-6 and Thursday 10-noon).  Hampers are available to clients of the Food Bank together with anyone in our servicing area that needs a little help for Christmas.  If you are interested in sponsoring a family at Christmas, please contact Debbie at 705-322-3070 (scmclean@bell.net).   All Applications must be submitted by November 30th as Christmas Hampers will be distributed on December 17th.

We have all gone through another challenging year but the volunteers at Elmvale & District Food Bank know that they have the support of local communities, organizations and individuals.

Please check out our Facebook page or website as we continue to post the most needed items.
