Final Service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale

May 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm.

In 1851 (16 years before Confederation) a church work was established by the early settlers in Hillsdale.

For over the next 171 years the church has connected our community of Hillsdale as a hub of fellowship, community life and greatest of all worship.

In the past few years there has been an exodus away from church attendance in Hillsdale and across our communities.  This has resulted in dwindling leadership.  Prayerful thought and discussion has preceeded this difficult decision, made on April 25th, 2022 to dissolve the congregation at St. Andrew’s Hillsdale.

The closing service will be held Sunday, May 29th, 2022 at 2 pm.  We warmly invite anyone interested to attend this ‘Celebration of 171 plus years of life’ at St. Andrew’s Hillsdale, 6 Mill Street West, Hillsdale.

Hospice Fundraiser

A Canadian Cabin Party is the theme for a unique event to raise funds for Hospice in Simcoe County. The Jim Cuddy Trio will headline the evening, with two local bands rounding out the entertainment. Three local hospices – located in Barrie, Orillia and Penetang – will share the proceeds raised from the ticket sales, auction items and draws in support of their programs and services.

The event will take place on June 3, at The Heights on Horseshoe Valley Road. “This fundraiser is truly

one of a kind,” says one of the organizers Trish Campbell. “From the music, to the decorations, food and overall vibe, it has a real Canadiana feel to it.”

Campbell and a group of friends decided to plan the special fundraiser more than a year ago in support of the local healthcare facilities that provide quality, respectful care for those living with a life-limiting

A virtual silent auction will be available to the public beginning May 17th and can be found at

https://trellis.org/an-evening-with-the-jim-cuddy-trio There is an incredible array of products and services available for bid donated by more than a 100 generous companies and individuals.

The major event corporate sponsors include Biederman Enterprises, Currie Freightliner, The Peggy Hill Team and Point to Point Communications. Additional sponsors include HGR Graham, Tim Horton’s Barrie and Team Micks.

The event is nearly sold-out, those interested in attending are asked to contact: josie@hospicesimcoe.ca

Glowing Hearts Charity

It may seem early in the year to be thinking about heading back to school, but Glowing Hearts Charity (GHC) is already hard at work preparing for its 2022 Backpacks for Youth program and nominations are now open! Last year, through the generosity of community members and sponsors, GHC was able to support 600 children/youth with the supplies they needed to head back to school, and this year that goal has increased to support 1000 students!

Backpacks, school supplies, water bottles, and lunch kits will be packed specifically for each child to reflect the information shared with GHC, giving students supported through the program what they need to head back to the classroom feeling excited and empowered to start the new school year.

GHC gets the supplies directly into the hands of those who need them most through community members, partners, agencies, and schools nominating students and household members nominating their own children/youth. Nominators are anonymous, and if a child is nominated by someone outside of the household, GHC reaches out to confirm whether or not they want to be included in the program. You can nominate a student, become a sponsor, make a monetary donation, or drop off quality backpacks and school supplies at one of the locations found on their website.

Together, we can make back-to-school exciting for every child.
