DRINK – GREAT FOR YOU AND THE ENVIRONMENT!

July 29, 2024 – Check out this recipe for a homemade sports drink that rival the ones you buy at the corner store on your way to the gym, park or the beach. Made with natural ingredients and easy on the wallet, this recipe is not only good for the body, it is also good for the environment with less plastic bottles ending up in our landfill. The basic recipe for a commercial sports drink is very simple with a focus on water, carbohydrates, sodium and potassium, but unfortunately it also includes the addition of chemicals and dyes. To get the right amount of potassium in your homemade sports drink, use a Half Salt Blend that can be found in many grocery stores. This commercial full salt alternative is a salt and potassium chloride blend that contains 50 percent less sodium than regular salt but can be used just like regular salt at the table and also in cooking and baking. FYI – This product is also a great choice for those trying to reduce their salt intake for health reasons without sacrificing taste.
