New Business in Elmvale Pet Value
By Rick Norris
September 17, 2024 – The opening of Pet Valu Elmvale in August had been thought about since the time we moved up to the Elmvale area in 2021. When the stars aligned with the availability of space in the new plaza beside Pharmasave, my wife and I decided to dive in and try and give Springwater a place not just to get pet food and supplies, but as a place people could be proud to have in the community. A marquee version of what Pet retail can be. We live here, we shop here, we play here, and we realize how big a part that pets play in the lives of the people that live around here, as they do in ours.
I’m a rural raised, blue-collar type of person that has no real interest in the upsell. I want to give people what they want by stocking a wide variety of premium quality pet food and associated supplies, and to do so in a no hassle friendly environment that epitomizes what the area stands for – providing some good honest advice where requested.
Our household has two dogs and a corn snake at present. Florence and Gordy test out a lot of the dog toys, treats and food. One being a Corso mix and the other an Australian cattle dog, they give things quite the going over – often on separate ends of a particular toy. Being originally from a land where the snakes are something to stay well clear of, I leave the snake to my daughter.
I’d like to thank the community for the support thus far and for the positive feedback we have received related to the store. It really does mean the world to us to hear that people (and as importantly their pets) enjoy coming to the store and continue to have a memorable experience whilst there. We want to be known as providing the best customer service in the land, bar none. That’s our goal.
Elmvale Presbyterian Cemetery Update
Fall is a time for cleaning up our yards before winter. At the Elmvale Presbyterian Cemetery, volunteers will continue their work into the Fall, gathering leaves and branches, cutting grass, etc. At this time we would like to send out a friendly reminder to families, that it would be appreciated if monument flowers, decorations and overgrown shrubbery can be attended to.
Some shrubs have grown over the actual monument, or at least to the point of obscuring the inscription. These shrubs will be removed by cemetery staff late this Fall, or early Spring, as it is the mission of the cemetery to display monuments with dignity. Please address any questions to the cemetery board manager, Bradley McGrady, or other cemetery board member.
Trivia: Three of the present day cemetery board members are descendants of the original 1860’s Elmvale Presbyterian Cemetery governance.
Doug Ritchie, Kyle Ritchie, and Kevin Kerr are continuing our small town experience of tradition.
