$150,000 OTF Grant Helped with Renovations to Local Legion’s Building

ELMVALE, ON: On Tuesday, local MPP Doug Downey met with members of the Elmvale Legion to see the results of the $150,000 Capital grant that it received in 2023 from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Funds from the grant were used to renovate the Legion’s 90-year-old building which is a key gathering space for both Legion and community members for a variety of local activities and meetings.
“Investing in the Elmvale Legion is an investment in our community,” said Doug Downey, MPP for Barrie–Sprignwater–Oro-Medonte. “Ensuring that the Legion is able to address critical upgrades will ensure that this remains a gathering place for veterans and their family and friends for years to come.”
Funds from the OTF grant were used to help with the capital upgrades to the building, ranging from installing new exterior security cameras, redoing its driveways and parking lot, as well as purchasing and installing a new furnace and air conditioner, both a glasswasher and dishwasher, ice machine and a much-needed electrical panel. The Elmvale Legion is used by not only members but also by a variety of community organizations for meetings, celebrations and fundraisers who all benefit from the renovations and upgrades.
