Please note, all branches of Springwater Public Library will be closed Monday September 1 for the Labour Day long weekend. We will return to regular branch hours on Tuesday September 2.

With September right around the corner, our regularly scheduled programming will return as follows:
Mondays: English Language Learners Club 1pm at Elmvale Branch (registration required).
Tuesdays: starting September 9 – Storytime 10:30am at Elmvale Branch (no registration required).
Wednesdays: starting September 10 – Storytime 10:30am at Midhurst Branch (no registration required).
Wednesdays: Senior Tech Help 10am-12noon at Midhurst Branch (registration required).

Take and Make Craft Kit
Every month the library will have a new FREE craft kit for you to take home and make! Each month be sure to stop by and ask staff for a kit! September is an Apple Suncatcher Tuesday September 2. Kits are only available while supplies last.
Encaustic Art Workshop for Seniors
The Barrie Community Health Clinic will be running an encaustic art piece workshop on Friday September 12, 1pm-3pm at Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required. Register early as space is limited. All abilities are welcome!
Drop-In Craft
Every month at the library there will be a new, fun drop-in craft available. Have a busy schedule but still want to participate at the library? This program is for you! Choose your own time during our open hours to come in and make your cool creation. Thursday September 18: Acorn bookmark. Cost: Free. Available while supplies last.
Introduction to Online Resources
Want to get access to free movies, TV shows, E-books, newspapers and magazines? This fall the library will be offering an info session on how to use your library card to access thousands of free online materials! Participants are encouraged to bring their devices for individual help setting up. Not tech savvy? No problem! Library staff at the program will walk you through the process and help you get set up for success! Saturday September 20, 1pm-2pm at Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required.
Discussing Diabetes Workshop
This workshop by the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre covers all topics related to managing prediabetes and diabetes and is presented by a Registered Dietician/Certified Diabetes Educator. This program is for individuals who have been recently diagnosed or for anyone wanting an update on effective strategies for managing diabetes. Workshop topics may include new developments in diabetes care, medications, exercise, nutrition, mental health and preventing complications. *Caregivers are also welcome. PA Day Program: Comic Book Contest
Visit your local library branch to participate in this awesome contest! Templates for hand-drawn comics and the use of laptops will be supplied. Friday September 26, 10am-5pm at Elmvale and Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. No registration required for this drop-in program.
Ages 4-6: Using pre-filled templates, contestants will draw pictures to accompany the text.
Ages 7-9: Using the blank templates contestants will create their own comic. Comics must tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end.
Ages 10-13: Contestants will be able to use computers to create their own comic book on canva. Comic must be at least 5 pages long.
