Harvesters Edge Winterhawks in Shootout Thriller – By Adrianna McGinnis – Oct. 3, 2025
History was made on Friday October 3 as the Elmvale Harvesters played their first-ever game, boarding the bus to The Plex in Port Elgin to take on the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks. The debut didn’t disappoint, with fans treated to an action-packed battle that went the distance.
From the opening puck drop, the game was a back-and-forth showdown, with both sides trading chances and goals. The Harvesters dominated large stretches of play, but the Winterhawks continued to push back, keeping the crowd on edge. After three periods of high-intensity hockey, the scoreboard read 5–5, forcing the game into overtime.
In the extra frame, Elmvale had several golden opportunities to seal the win, but the Saugeen goaltender stood tall to keep his team alive. With overtime solving nothing, the contest moved to a dramatic shootout.
Ryan Young was the first Harvester to shoot but was denied. On Saugeen’s opening attempt, Elmvale goaltender Noah Featherstonehaugh Gowe made a big save to keep things even. Then came Jacob Kelly, who buried a beauty to give the Harvesters the edge. Another clutch stop by Featherstonehaugh Gowe set the stage for Jordan Fuller, who made no mistake, deking past the Winterhawks netminder and scoring the winner.
It was a total team effort, with regulation goals coming from Fuller, Young, Kelly (2), and Palomaki.
The Will Marshall Insurance Broker Three Stars of the Game were awarded to:
- Jacob Kelly
- Noah Featherstonehaugh Gowe
- Jordan Fuller
The Harvesters left Port Elgin with a thrilling shootout victory, proving that they’re ready to battle every night.
