Residential Structure Fire in Springwater – By Township of Springwater
Springwater, ON / November 12, 2025 – On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Springwater Fire and Emergency Services responded to reports of a structure fire on Amelia Street in Elmvale.
The event involved support from all four fire stations and deployment of aerial apparatus. Firefighters arriving at the scene encountered heavy flames engulfing the roof, with rapid fire spreading throughout the residence.
The building’s occupant, alerted by a passerby, was safely evacuated and evaluated by paramedics as a precaution.
“Due to an early roof collapse, our firefighters quickly transitioned to defensive operations,” explained Deputy Fire Chief Jeff French. “The home’s age and construction presented additional obstacles, such as hidden voids, weakened structural elements, and unpredictable fire spread patterns.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation, however is not considered suspicious. Damage estimate is approximately $800,000.
Elmvale District Lions Remember – By Linda Belcourt, Editor, Nov 11, 2025
Hundreds gathered at the Elmvale Cenotaph on Nov. 11 to honour Remembrance Day. Community residents, students, service clubs, OPP officers, Fire Services, and many members of the military came together in a powerful show of respect for those who served — and for those who continue to serve today.
In a striking and unforgettable moment, firefighters were called to an emergency just a few houses away during the ceremony. As black smoke rose into the sky from the Potts family home, it served as a stark reminder of the risks our first responders face every day, and of the service and sacrifice that tie our community together.
