Annie’s Journal

Written by Annie Warner Donnelly

Hello Everyone. What does hope mean to you?

Do you feel it most when you’re not feeling blue?

Has snow made it so cold that it’s hard to keep warm?

Is it colder now than the year you were born?

Do you still have hope that spring will soon come?

Do you especially wish that winter’s soon done?

Hope’s in the flutter of each tiny butterfly

When the sun’s summer rays are high in the sky.

But Hope’s not about weather that comes from above.

It’s found forever in God’s perfect love!

We hope that our Saviour will come to us soon

To relieve all the suffering and thoughts of world gloom.

We hope that His comfort will be fully enough

When life is uncertain, and our times are tough,

When we come to Jesus when He says “Come”,

We can rest in His arms; our worry is done.

The Bible says that the Creator of the ends of the earth neither faints nor is weary; that His understanding is unsearchable; that He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might, He increases strength.

The Bible says that those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Let’s ask Him to renew our strength so that, together, we can bring peace into our homes; so that together we can feed the hungry and help the homeless find homes. Together, let’s share the source of our hope with others.

My prayer is that hope will dwell indelibly in all our hearts; that the joy of God’s plan of salvation will sustain us and comfort us and strengthen us; that we will find peace in togetherness; that new and deeper friendships will develop during these unsettling times; and that we will discover new things about God, things that reveal more about His character, about His everlasting love for us.

May your heart and mind and soul and strength be filled with God’s hope and may your joy be complete. These things I ask in Jesus’ precious and mighty name. Amen
