40th Annual LUSH Curling Bonspiel
On January 17th friends gathered for the 40th Annual LUSH curling Bonspiel at the Elmvale Curling Club. LUSH is a group created in the 1980s by a group of friends shortly after high school. The Lost Channel Unemployed Seagull Hunters was created after a trip to a Lost Channel hunt camp where little hunting but lots of cards were enjoyed. The bonspiel was created shortly after to continue the fun and games. A day meant to celebrate and enjoy laughs with friends, a few drinks and some pizza while playing a game of curling. 8 teams gathered for 3 -4 end games. Team Agar came out with the final win and trophy. The LUSH Bonspiel fell on the 63rd birthday of Linda Belcourt, our previous editor. Thank you for your kind words, dedications and fun during this day.
BIA Annual General Meeting
Thank you to our incredible business community and stakeholders who joined us on February 19 at Thompson Fireplaces and Living Spaces for the Elmvale BIA Annual General Meeting & Open House. The energy in the room reflected the strength, pride, and commitment that define our local businesses.
The Elmvale BIA represents businesses across Elmvale and throughout the Township of Springwater, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together to connect, reflect on the past year, and look ahead.
Thank you to everyone who attended, shared ideas, and continues to invest in our community. The future of the Elmvale BIA is bright, and this is just the beginning – Councillor Matt Garwood
Curling and Cocktails at ECC
Elmvale’s women curlers hosted a “cocktail party” at the annual “Not the Scotties” Bonspiel on January 10th. Eight teams competed in the two draw, points event for cash prizes. Curlers from Midland, Stayner, Coldwater, York and Elmvale celebrated the “On the Rocks” theme with creative team wear! Thanks to Bryan Wilson, Ice Hoss Curling, and Paul Stevenson, Tim Hortons, for their generous support of the event.
Elmvale’s Team Stevenson aka “The B 52’s” (Fran Stevenson, Sue Henry, Heather Mepham, Dianne Cox) came out on top in the 1stdraw, while Elmvale/York Team Campbell aka “The Ski Jumps” (Trish Campbell, Sandy Blais, Karen Hoare, Deb Hilliard) prevailed in the 2nd draw. Cheers to all the curlers, volunteers and supporters who made this spiel a success!
