McNABB, Laura Frances
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Frances (nee Lennox) McNabb at the Stayner Care Centre on Monday, July 7th, 2025, aged 91. She is predeceased by her loving husband Allan, son Bill, grandson Jonathan, parents (Clara and Frank), sister Pat (Elliott) and brothers Bill, Larry and Greg. She is survived by her sister Jennifer Roberts (Gord), brother Andrew Lynn (Cathy) and children Cathy (Philip) Caston, James (Kathy), John (Carol), Rob (Shelley) and Ed (Roberta), 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Laura was born on December 3, 1933, in Thornton but raised mainly in Barrie. At the age of eighty she said she had had the best life: 20 years at home; 20 years raising her family with Allan in Edenvale, 20 years working with the Simcoe County Health Unit and then 20 years retired. She was devoted to family, community, volunteer work and Minesing United Church, filling the house with family, laughter, good food, flowers from her garden and a great sense of fun.
A private family graveside service was held at Minesing Union Cemetery on Saturday, July 12th, with a Celebration of Life following immediately at the Grenfel Community Centre. In Laura’s memory, donations may be made to the Minesing Recreation Association or the Alzheimer’s Society. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through Lynne-Stone Funeral Home.
Words of gratitude from the family of Laura McNabb
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those able to attend Laura’s burial and Celebration of Life and to all of those who sent condolences. We deeply appreciate the kind care Laura received at the Stayner Care Centre and the extra support and care provided to her and the family during her final days. We would also like to thank the Lynn Stone Funeral Home who made easy the necessary arrangements for Laura with great kindness. Special thanks to all those family and friends who assisted with food especially former Minesing United Church members and to cousins Caroline, Helen and Sandra who kept the food flowing and kitchen organized. Laura’s day would not have been as special without her brother-in-law, Gord Roberts, who spoke so eloquently as did her son Ed, and granddaughter Katie reminding us of happy memories and the hard-working, loving, giving person that Laura was.
