This PA Day our special guest is the Simcoe County Waste Department! They will be teaching us all about the environment and how we can make sustainable choices to help our earth. Tween/Teen Iron On Sublimation Patch Program
Unleash your creativity! Join us for an afternoon full of technology, crafts, and creativity! Perfect for tweens and teens, all skill levels welcome. Create your design on Canva, print with our sublimation printer and iron on your fabric patch. Tuesday April 28, 5:30pm at Midhurst Branch. Cost: $2.00 for two patched. Registration required.
Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival Book Sale
Our annual big book sale will take place in the Elmvale branch (McGuire room downstairs) during the town Maple Syrup Festival on Saturday April 29, 10:30am-3pm. Come browse and stock up on your beach books!
Emergency Preparedness Workshop
Do you want to be prepared for an emergency? They can happen anywhere at any time. The Be Ready Workshop will teach: The potential hazards and risks for your area, how to create an emergency plan, how to assemble an emergency kit, the importance of social and support networks during emergencies. Tuesday May 5, 10:30am at Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required.
Get Ready for Kindergarten
Join us at the library to get your child ready for kindergarten. This is a four week series; however, feel free to sign up for the specific week(s) that your child needs. Please register your child (parents do not need to register but a care giver’s attendance is required). Cost: Free. Tuesdays at Minesing Branch. This program will also run on Mondays in June at Elmvale Branch. Kits are available upon request.
Week 1: Tuesday May 5 Basic First Steps: Getting dressed without help, Toileting, Eating without help, and Nap weaning.
Week 2: Tuesday May 12 ABC’s, Phonics, and Printing their name: Practice saying and printing their ABC’s, practice the sounds that the letters make, and recognising and printing their name.
Week 3: Tuesday May 19 Numbers, Shapes, and Patterns: Practice counting abilities (from 1-10), recognition and printing of numbers, recognition of shapes by name, and practicing with simple patterns.
Week 4: Tuesday May 26 Packing lunches and Backpack needs: Learn what to pack and how to pack your child’s lunch and backpack to make it easiest for them and the teachers at school. For this session please bring your child a lunchbox and any containers you plan to use for lunches and their backpack (if they have one).
Senior Social Coffee and Crafting
Drop by the library for a fun gathering of crafting and socializing! One morning a month we have a simple craft activity along with light refreshments. In May, make your own spring cards, including intricate paper flowers. Friday May 8, 11am at Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required.
