Hello Everyone. On Monday, June 22, 2026, my friend died by suicide.
Are you thinking about suicide? Have you attempted it? Are you thinking about attempting it again?
Please don’t do it! You are valuable to those who love you. Your smile can’t be replaced. The warmth of your hug mustn’t disappear. Look around you. Which child will be sad growing up without you, won’t understand what happened? What older person will regret not knowing your need?
Someone will miss you every day for the rest of their lives. Go to that person now, the one who loves you unconditionally, the one who will love you as long as they have breath. Tell them how you feel. Take this article with you. Together, check out the Mental Health Commission of Canada – https://mentalhealthcommission.ca/resource/where-to-get-mental-health-care/ or
call or text this number: 9-8-8, the Suicide Crisis Helpline. Lasting help is available.
If someone comes to you for help, please remember the “3 Cs of crisis response developed by leading expert Dr. John Draper:
- Connection:Ensuring the individual in crisis feels understood, heard, and not isolated. It involves listening without judgment and showing them they are not alone.
- Collaboration:Working alongside the individual to identify potential solutions and building a constructive plan forward (such as reducing access to lethal means).
- Choice:Empowering the person by actively involving them in the decision-making process for their own care and recovery.”
You may feel that you can’t help the person with all three Cs, but you can begin with connection and comfort; you can begin with love and the truth that faith the size of a mustard seed works! Hopefully, you can help them decide to go to a safe place that offers the help they need.

Remember, if you are in immediate danger, or someone is in immediate danger or actively attempting to harm themselves, call 911 immediately, and remember to pray.
A final thought: God never leaves us, nor forsakes us. There is a way out of our darkest moments. He will help us find it. Just ask Him. Amen.
