Summer Reading Tracking and Prizes

Track your reading throughout the summer and earn exciting prizes! Log into ReadSquared and earn an Epic rubber duck prize right away with your registration! Other prizes will be awarded at 500 and 1000 minutes of reading. Your parents can read to you, you can read to your parents, you can read by yourself, you can listen to a book on a trip. There’s no wrong way to spend time with a good book!

 

Chalk the Block

Our annual Chalk the Block program is back at the library and finishes Saturday July 11, we will have chalk available for anyone/everyone of all ages to create beautiful, colourful artwork on the sidewalk/areas surrounding our library entrances. We’ve seen some amazing artwork over the years and invite you all to come be a part of the fun! Parent supervision is required.

 

Teen Summer Book Box

Sign up to receive a teen book box filled with a bunch of summer fun freebies! Each box will contain two library books that need to be returned, and a surprise stack of free items that include sassy stickers, savory summer snacks and more! Registration for these free boxes closes Friday July 10.

 

Adult Summer Bingo

Can you beat the Adult Summer Reading Challenge? To beat the challenge, register on the ReadSquared app. You must complete one row of our bingo card and log and review five books this summer. Participants will be entered to win fun prizes! Participants must be 18 or older to qualify for the draw. Start reading/filling out your bingo card on Monday June 29. The final day to participate/play is Monday August 31. Visit ReadSquared and register at: https://springwaterlibrary.readsquared.com/

 

Lego Building Challenge

Get ready to build, design and imagine during the library Lego Challenge where each week features a new theme to inspire inventive creations and exciting ideas. Kids will use their problem solving skills and imagination. Mondays 10:30am at Elmvale and Midhurst Branches. Cost: Free. No registration required for this drop-in program.

 

STEM Program

Discover the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through hands-on experiments and creative challenges at the library STEM Program. Open to curious minds, each week will explore new things! Wednesdays at 1pm in July and August at Midhurst Branch or Fridays 1pm in July and August at Elmvale Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required.

 

Shark Attack! Program

Dive into an ocean of excitement during Shark week at the library where kids can enjoy shark-themed crafts, games and hands on activities full of “fin-tastic” fun! From creative art projects to exciting challenges and stories form the deep this program is perfect for young shark enthusiasts ready for new adventure! Tuesday July 7, 10:30am or 5:30pm at Elmvale Branch, Thursday July 9, 10:30am or 5:30pm at Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required.

 

Narwhal and Jellyfish Program

Join us for a splashy Narwhal and Jellyfish adventure at the library inspired by the beloved graphic novels featuring crafts, games and tons of undersea fun! Kids will celebrate friendship, imagination and silliness through artistic activities and playful challenges. Perfect for fans of the cheerful duo.

Tuesday July 14, 10:30am at Elmvale Branch, Thursday July 16, 10:30am or 5:30pm at Midhurst Branch. Cost: Free. Registration required.

 

Escape Room

Oh no! Ariels’ treasure chest has gone missing! Dive in and race against the clock (and those pesky stealing pirates!) to help her find it before time runs out. Solve clues, riddles and puzzles in our Deep Sea Escape Room. This program is designed for children ages 6+. Younger children are welcome but must have a parent/caregiver with them. Time slots are 45 minutes each with a maximum group of six people per session. Tuesday July 21 or Friday July 24 at Elmvale Branch. Wednesday July 22 or Thursday July 25 at Midhurst Branch. Registration required.
