Message From MPP Jill Dunlop
As the days grow longer and the signs of spring begin to bloom across Simcoe North, I’m reminded of the resilience and strength of our community. After a long winter, this season offers a welcome opportunity to reconnect, refresh, and look ahead with optimism. Whether you’re preparing your garden, enjoying our beautiful trails, or simply spending more time outdoors with family, spring is a time of renewal for us all.
At my office, we continue to focus on delivering results that matter most to residents. This spring, the provincial government is advancing key initiatives aimed at strengthening our healthcare system, including continued investments in reducing surgical backlogs and improving access to family doctors. We are also supporting local infrastructure projects that will enhance transportation and community spaces throughout Simcoe County.
Affordability remains a top priority. Recent measures to provide relief for families, seniors, and small businesses are helping to ease the cost of living. From energy rebates to targeted tax relief, our goal is to ensure that Ontario remains a place where people can live, work, and thrive.
I’m also pleased to invite you to one of our most anticipated community events of the year, the Annual Seniors Day. Taking place on May 20th at Barnfield Point Recreation Centre, this free event is designed to celebrate and support the seniors in our community. Attendees will have access to valuable information from a wide range of supplier booths, hear from engaging guest speakers, and enjoy a complimentary lunch in a welcoming and social environment.
Seniors Day is a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate the contributions of older adults in Simcoe North. I encourage everyone to join us and take advantage of the resources and connections available.
As always, my office is here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas. Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy, and happy spring season.
Message from MP Doug Shipley
Do you find yourself discussing the weather more often these days? Weather seems to be at the top of my list of things to talk about. Frankly, I am looking forward to more consistent weather. By consistent, I mean sunny and warm. With the record setting amounts of snow we received this winter, I am welcoming the spring weather, and everything it brings with it.
Now that we can see our gardens, backyards, and balconies again, it is time to start planning and visiting garden centres as they open throughout our region. It is a wonderful time of year to get outdoors, breathe in fresh air, and enjoy our communities.
I was reviewing my calendar and looking at some upcoming events and I am counting down the days until the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival. I am so excited to participate in the famous log sawing competition. I hope to see many of you sampling tasty treats and participating in the fun and games on Saturday April 25th. Let me know if you have any winning strategies for the log sawing competition that you would like to share.
I encourage you to get outdoors. Whether you want a leisurely hike or to make it a workout, we have amazing trails throughout the region that can accommodate you, and there are benches on the shores of our many lakes where you can relax and simply appreciate the scenery. Whichever path you choose, I hope you take some time to get out and enjoy the breeze on your face and the changing of season. Get out there and make the most of what these longer days have to offer. I am looking forward to seeing you out and about in the riding.
Please know that my staff and I are always on hand to assist you with any federal matters or to hear your comments and feedback. Please contact us by emailing Doug.Shipley@parl.gc.ca or calling 705-728-2596.
Sincerely, Doug Shipley
