Robert Giffen

In Loving Memory

Robert Giffen of Minesing, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and lifelong farmer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the age of 80 with his family by his side.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cornelia, children Stephen (Camilla), Andrew (Anita) and Mark (Crystal): grandchildren Isaac, Emma (Greg), Abby, Chloe, Alex, Iris and Ira; his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Predeceased by his loving parents Aubrey and Dorothy Giffen.

Born on March 4, 1946, in Barrie, Ontario, Robert was raised on the family farm in Edenvale with his five brothers and sisters.  In 1983 he moved with his wife and sons to a dairy farm in Minesing and dedicated his life to the land he loved. For more than 43 years, he worked tirelessly from sunrise to sunset, caring for his crops and livestock. Farming was not simply his occupation; it was his heritage and the legacy he proudly carried forward.

Known for his strong work ethic and sense of humour, he believed in the value of hard work and perseverance, lessons he passed down to his sons. Whether driving a tractor through the fields, creating with metal, or sharing stories with friends, he touched countless lives with his kindness.

Robert’s footprints remain in the fields he cultivated.  Though he has laid down his tools and taken his final rest, the seeds of love and commitment he planted throughout his life will continue to grow for generations to come.

“A farmer’s work is never truly finished; it lives on in every harvest, every lesson, and every life touched along the way.”

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation in his memory.
