Bedrock Mortgage Corp. U11B Elmvale Coyotes Represent Great In The Elmvale Maple Syrup Tournament

By Theresa Dermott

The Elmvale Coyotes U11B team, sponsored by Don Stoddard at Bedrock Mortgage Corp., hosted 7 other U11 teams at the Elmvale Maple Syrup Tournament Friday March 8th to Sunday March 11th. The team, led by Head Coach Adam Kuypers, Assistant Coaches Paul Craddock and Brandon Godin and Trainer Brett KleinGebbinck, made a strong start in the first of the tournament with an 11-1 win over the South Gray Spartans.

Friday afternoon the team was represented in the U11 skills competition by 4 of their own. Ryan Dziama took the win in the fastest skater event to start things off. Gibson Godin showed his speed and puck handling skills in the agility event and Kolten KleinGibbink and Eli Daniels went on to win the best shooter and goalie awards, with the most goals and saves.

Friday evening, the team was excited to welcome the Moose River Attack who made their way to the Coyote Den by helicopter, train and plane. With a 9-1 victory,  the Coyotes focused on their passing and camaraderie, cheering on the team from Moose Factory.

Saturday afternoon brought on the MidHuron Huskies and also the first loss of the tournament for the Coyotes, 3-0.

In the semi-finals, Elmvale faced the Wasaga Stars and in spite of outshooting their opponents and some great passing and plays, the Coyotes fell 3-2, ending the tournament.

On behalf of the players, staff and families we would like to thank our local vendors, and especially Deb Coughlin and Sarah Daniels for all of their efforts in putting on an amazing tournament.

Tim Hortons U7 LL4 Have Great 2023-2024 Season

by: Peter Gibson

We started the season with massive improvements by all players. The skill development throughout the season was amazing to watch and allowed the team to be competitive in our many games and two tournaments in Grand River and Coldwater. In our most recent tournament, our team kept up with a top team from Oro and played their best game of the season, culminating all they had learned throughout the year.

The best aspect of the season was the comradery of the players and parents. Everyone was there to have fun and enjoy each other’s company!  Overall, it was a great season and I’m looking forward to seeing these players grow further in the Elmvale Coyotes Minor Hockey Program!

This was all made possible due to the generous sponsorship of Tim Hortons! Thank you for your continued support of Elmvale Minor Hockey!

Tim Hortons Elmvale Coyotes U7 LL3 Have A Great Season

By Matt Wicksted

The Tim Hortons U7 LL3 hockey season was filled with excitement and growth as these young players took to the ice to hone their skills and learn the fundamentals of the game. Each player showed tremendous enthusiasm and dedication throughout the season.

One of the highlights of the season was participating in the Hanover Jamboree tournament. The friendships formed, lessons learned, and memories, created the foundation for a lifelong love of hockey.

The teamwork displayed by the Coaches and parents alike cheered on the players as they worked together to score goals and defend their net. It was inspiring to see their progress from the first practice to the final game, as they gained speed and agility with each session. Whether it was learning to handle the puck, improve their shooting accuracy, or understand the rules of the game, each obstacle was an opportunity for growth and learning.

As the season came to a close, it was evident that each player had grown not only as athletes but also as individuals.

Thank you to all the support and a big shoutout to our sponsors Tim Hortons.

See you next year!

E.D.H.S. Boys Hockey Receive Generous Jersey Donation

By Kory Rowell

March 25, 2024 – The Elmvale District High School boys hockey team received a generous jersey donation from the local Jeff Colyn Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament back in December. The Eagles have been bringing back their classic orange and green school colours in the last few years. Past grads mentioned how good the jerseys looked, reminding them of the ones they wore 40 years ago. We won a bunch of games in our flashy orange jerseys but we fell short qualifying for OFSAA. The first goal scored in the new jerseys was netted by Will “Big Country” Veenstra with assists by Josh Haines and Garrett Oakes. Gavin Sanderson played goalie for the Eagles for the majority of the season and his phenomenal play kept us in a lot of games. Congrats to all the boys on a great season! The boys and coaches would like to thank everyone who made the donation possible. If you want to support the local Jeff Colyn Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament, come on out to the Elmvale Arena May 10th and 11th. Go Eagles!
