Plates and Pockets – Household food insecurity and food affordability in Simcoe Muskoka.

A Public Health Nurse will provide an overview on how and why the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit monitors food affordability in our region and how it relates to the issues of household food insecurity. The goal of the workshop is to create awareness about social issues. This program is for adults and is free. Join us on April 19th at 10:00 a.m. Register with your library card. Free.

Earth Day Craft

Make a hanging Earth craft. This program will be available on Friday, April 26th at 4:00 pm for ages 4-12. Program fee is $1.00. Must have a valid library card to register.

Visit to Awenda Park

Join Tim Tully, Chief Park Naturalist for a guided tour of the park on Friday, May 24th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Register in person at the library with your library card. The programming fee is $5.00. Remember to bring your own lunch! Registration begins April 12-April 19th for residents of Penetanguishene and valid Tiny residents. For members holding a reciprocal borrowing agreement membership, registration will begin after April 22. Penetanguishene and valid Tiny card holders may continue to register during this time.

Do it like Da Vinci!

Join a Scientists in School instructor and follow in Da Vinci’s steps on June 7th, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Paint to explore solubility, absorption and surface tension. Become an inventor by building a catapult. Discover the joy of combining science and art!

This program is open to ages 5-12. Register with your library card. Programming fee is $2.00.

Mother’s Day Vintage Tea Cups and Saucers for sale!

Purchase your Mother’s Day Tea Cup with chocolate teacakes and Tetley Tea inside. The Friends of the Library have prepared a beautiful assortment of gift tea cups and saucers which are displayed at the library. Purchase your Mother’s Day Gift and enjoy a cup of tea with your mom on Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day!

Penetanguishene Public Library has a large collection of multi-lingual books and DVD’s. Find books and DVD’s in Russian, German, Spanish and French in our multilingual section.

2024 Park Passes are available at the library. Check-out with your library card for one week and enjoy Spring walks through the park.

Library Board Meeting

The next Library Board Meeting is scheduled for April 29th, 2024. This meeting is open to the public.

The paper is electronically available online on publishing date at our website. The paper is published every other Thursday. The deadline is the Monday before (3 days).
