Update from Doug Shipley

Summer is in full swing here in Barrie – Springwater – Oro-Medonte! I’ve had a busy start to the summer spending time in the riding meeting constituents, visiting new businesses in the community, and attending local events. I find so much value in the time I spend back in the riding during the summer months, speaking with community members and hearing feedback firsthand.

It’s always a pleasure connecting with people in our community. In fact, the people are what makes our community so strong. On that note, I’m proud to share that I’ve been selected as a nominating partner for the King Charles III Coronation Medal Program. I’ve received several inquiries from community members eager to nominate a deserving friend, neighbor, or colleague, so I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you some information about the program.

To be eligible for this honour, a person must have made a significant contribution to the country, a province, territory, region, or community, or made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. They must have been alive on May 6th, 2023, the date of His Majesty’s Coronation.

Nominations can be made in person at my constituency office at 104-48 Alliance Blvd., Barrie, or by email to Doug.Shipley@parl.gc.ca with the subject line ‘King Charles III Coronation Medal Nomination + Nominee Name’.

Nominations must include the nominators first and last name, phone number, and email address. Please detail the full legal name of the person you are nominating, including any middle names, date of birth, and complete residential address. You must include a brief explanation of why you are making this nomination, up to 250 words. You must also include the field of endeavor from the following list:

– Arts & Media

– Community Service & Philanthropy

– Health Care & Medicine

– Science, Technology, & Innovation

– Sports

– Business, Industry & Economy

– Education

– Politics, Public Service & Justice

– Social Sciences & Humanities

I can say with confidence that there are many worthy members within our community. I encourage you to make a nomination if you know someone that you feel is worthy of this great honour.

If you have any questions regarding the program, or if you’d like to discuss any federal matters that may be of concern to you, as always, my staff and I are available to help you. You can contact me by emailing Doug.Shipley@parl.gc.ca, or contact my team at 705-728-2596.

Sincerely,

Doug Shipley

Member of Parliament
