Library News – Midland

Family Literacy Day is celebrated every January 27th to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy activities as a family. It began in 1999 and thousands of schools, libraries, literacy organizations and other community groups take part. Each year there is a central theme for the day, and this year’s theme is Celebrate your Heritage. Midland Public Library will be focusing on Canadian authors and heritage and will transform the children’s area into a Canadian wonderland!

MPL’s Family Literacy Day events will take place on Friday, January 27th, with activities happening all day long, including giveaways, and two virtual visits by Canadian authors. Marie-Louise Gay will be joining us at 11:00am, and Robin Stevenson will join us at 2:00pm. Families can register for these online author visits by emailing lessex@midlandlibrary.com.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Family Literacy Day and Canadian heritage by hosting these special events intended to foster a lifelong love of reading in our community.

Midland Public Library aims to provide engagement, inspiration and empowerment, and to be a central part of what makes Midland and the surrounding areas a great place to live, work, and play.
