Matt Garwood brought forward at the April 17th regular meeting of council related to the Ministry decision to deny an application for a Family Medical Practice within Elmvale.

Notice of Motion to request the Province review and reverse its decision to deny an application for a Family Medical Practice within the Elmvale area

Recommendation

Whereas Springwater residents are concerned with the lack of access to primary care within our community; and,

Whereas on April 3, 2024, Council was advised that the Ministry of Health denied an application from a local doctor for a family physicians office within the Elmvale area.

Be It Therefore Resolved That Council call on the Ministry of Health and all provincial partners to work collaboratively to review and reverse this decision in order to assist with bringing a family physician to the Elmvale area.

And Further That a copy of this resolution be sent to the Hon. Sylvia Jones, Minister of Health, the Hon. Paul Calandra, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Hon. Doug Downey, Attorney General/MPP for Barrie – Springwater- Oro-Medonte and the Hon. Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario.
